Final update on Helene restoration efforts.
We are thrilled to share that 99% of our customers are now reconnected and enjoying the services that are so vital to their daily lives. Thanks to the incredible dedication and expertise of our 300+ emergency response team members, many Xfinity and Comcast Business customers had their connectivity restored well before today’s full network restoration date of October 24, 2024.
While there are still a few remaining pockets of outages in Martinez and the City of Augusta due to the extensive damage caused by Helene, we are working tirelessly to rebuild these parts of our network. For those still experiencing service interruptions, we estimate full restoration by October 28, 2024, with many coming online even sooner. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that our teams are hyper-focused on these areas, diligently working to get you reconnected.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the residents of the CSRA for their kindness, patience and trust during this challenging time. Our ground teams were met with overwhelming support and understanding, and we could not have stood strong with you without the inherent strength and resilience of the community.
We again want to thank our technicians, engineers, construction and maintenance crews who worked around the clock to access, isolate and repair our network. This is in addition to our retail and support staff who served residents 24/7, even when their homes were without power. From our hometown experts to local contractors and travel teams from as far as Michigan and Texas – we are incredibly proud to serve our customers.
Wednesday, October 23 @ 2:15 p.m.
With 97% of the CSRA restored, our response team is hyper-focused on getting our remaining customers back online.
For customers in Appling and Louisville, our network received significant impact from Helene’s isolated tornadoes and strong winds causing damage to homes, cars, trees and other vegetation. Parts of our network are beyond repair, and our techs, construction crews and engineers are working quickly to rebuild and restore your connectivity.
We have more than 94% of customers restored in the City of Augusta, Aiken, Elberton, Harlem, Hartwell, Newberry, North Augusta, Pine Hill, Thomson, Waynesboro and Windsor Springs. If you are in these communities and still experiencing outages, it may be due to isolated fiber or equipment damage directly impacting your home or business. We have dedicated response crews blanketing the area and are addressing connection issues house by house and business by business. You can view our outage map to check your location and if not listed, please use your Xfinity app to chat with a representative.
Tuesday, October 22 @ 2:40 p.m.
As of earlier today, we have restored 96% connectivity for our Comcast Business and Xfinity customers throughout the CSRA. Our teams are diligently working on areas with significant network damage, including Appling, the City of Augusta, Louisville and Martinez, while also addressing individual home and business outages. We anticipate full network restoration by October 24, 2024, if not sooner, for the vast majority of residents.
We are making great strides in getting our customers reconnected, but we need your help!
Recently, we have encountered instances of inadvertent fiber cuts, causing intermittent outages. Our teams are being redirected to previously restored communities due to these accidental cuts. If you are involved in debris removal and clean-up, please be cautious to avoid any lines, as they may be live and providing services to you, your neighbors or your street. Damage to these lines creates secondary outages, impeding our progress in getting the CSRA back online.

The emergency response team continues to make steady growth on our restoration numbers with 73% of Helene-impacted customers now back online. Our teams are working through nearly 5,165 isolated damage locations and estimate replacing 166 miles of fiber and cable across our footprint of four states – Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
We are asking for your help, as we are also experiencing fiber cuts as debris removal crews have been inadvertently cutting some of our new lines that have been put in place. These cuts have caused intermittent service outages and redirected crews back to previously restored neighborhoods, which could cause a further delay in return of services.
Network Update
Augusta, GA: As of this week, local power has shared electricity return of service by mid-October. We’re working in tandem with local power companies as a fast follow to restore connectivity as soon as electrical lines are cleared and poles are repaired. Additionally, our response crew on the ground must also work through debris to access our fiber lines and equipment for repair and, in some cases, rebuild. We estimate full network restoration for Augusta, GA by October 19, 2024, if not earlier for many residents.
Restoring connectivity after a major storm event can be a challenge. This part of the restoration process is often slow and tedious, as our crew must review each foot of fiber and inspect pieces of equipment to locate damage to our network. We apologize for those experiencing extended service outages, and please know that our team is working as quickly as possible to ensure every home and business has the services that are essential for their lives.
Savannah, GA: We have been able to restore 87% of our customers with more coming online every hour. We appreciate your patience as we continue to find, fix and return services for our remaining outage customers. For those remaining customers experiencing service outages, we estimate a full network restoration for Savannah, GA by October 5, 2024.
Customers impacted in East Tennessee & Southwest Virginia (Tri-Cities) in areas that our teams have been granted access to and power has returned, we are seeing a predominant number of our customers coming online. Our teams will continue to be positioned throughout, and once declared safe to do so, we will restore connectivity in some of the heaviest hit areas.

The emergency response team continues to make steady growth on our restoration numbers with 71% of Helene-impacted Comcast Business and Xfinity customers now back online. Our teams are working through nearly 5,165 isolated damage locations and estimate replacing 165 miles of fiber and cable across our footprint of four states – Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
For predominantly restored cities – such as Atlanta and Charleston – our teams are continuing to monitor the area, going street by street, line by line to visit each house and business to ensure connectivity. If you have power but services are still disconnected, there may have been damage to your fiber line directly impacting your home or business. Please visit your Xfinity App to contact a representative for information and updates.
We also continue to experience fiber cuts as debris removal crews have been inadvertently cutting some of our new lines that have been put in place and these cuts have caused intermittent service outages in places like Atlanta, Charleston and Savannah.
We apologize for these outages and know how important our services are for you and your family.

Wednesday, October 2 @ 1:45 p.m.
As electricity is still being restored across Helene’s footprint, we are bolstering our response crews for continued 24/7 work rotations to accommodate customers with returning power. Our teams are working through nearly 4,000 isolated damage locations and estimate replacing 120+ miles of fiber and cable.
This part of the restoration phase may go slower than we would like, as it is a tedious and a very detailed process of assessing the extent of damage, repairing, and in some cases, rebuilding our fiber network.
Our response teams are making steady progress across the heaviest hit areas across our footprint. We’re still accessing some areas of Northeast Tennessee/Southwest Virginia to locate damage to our network and equipment, working alongside public utilities in Augusta and Savannah to restore customers as soon as power returns, and responding to storm-related pocket outages on streets and neighborhoods throughout the region.
Additionally last night, we pulled teams and resources as quickly as possible to repair a significant fiber cut that impacted Metro Charleston customers. The cut occurred while a third-party crew was clearing debris on a fiber line that runs between Charleston and Augusta. As of 6:30 this morning, the fiber line was repaired and response teams are continuing to monitor the situation. We thank the community for their patience and understanding.
Help Us Avoid Fiber Cuts
With storms, there is an extensive and often exhaustive clean-up for all impacted. During this process, clean-up crews, and home and business owners may accidentally cut live and working fiber lines which would cause intermittent outages for customers that were once restored. Please be careful and avoid lines whenever possible.
To report a downed line, you can chat with an Xfinity Assistant through the Xfinity App or the Xfinity website. Additionally, here are a few tips to help you and your neighbors stay connected:

Help Us Avoid Fiber Cuts
With severe weather clean-up and restoration, home and business owners, and power and debris crews may inadvertently cut temporary fiber lines which would cause intermittent outages for customers that were once restored. For those experiencing secondary service interruption, we apologize for the inconvenience, and we are repairing and restoring our lines as quickly as possible.
