Comcast NBCUniversal has announced a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross of Greater Atlanta in support of the ongoing disaster relief and recovery efforts in Griffin, Georgia following the devastating impacts of the recent tornado and severe storms.

“We are committed to supporting our team members, customers, partners and residents in Griffin during this challenging time,” said Jason Gumbs, Comcast’s Regional Senior Vice President. “Our team is working nonstop alongside emergency personnel to safely restore services and ensure all of our customers are back online.”

Comcast and its contractors traveled from across the southeast to aid recovery efforts immediately after the tornado devastated Griffin. The team continues to work around the clock, restoring service once network repairs are made and power is restored.

As a temporary solution while restoration work continues, Comcast brought in several generators to bring customers back online.

The company also recently announced the arrival of its Xfinity WiFi van in Griffin. The van provides free Internet connectivity to residents without service and has thus far attracted dozens of visitors. It is available each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 106 West Taylor Street in Griffin.

These efforts are part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing resources and support to communities during times of unexpected need.
