Atlanta Business Chronicle Awards Comcast for ‘Outstanding Diversity in an Organization’ at its 5th annual Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Awards
Comcast’s Central Division received the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Award for Outstanding Diversity in an Organization at the 2022 DE&I awards held this past Thurs., Nov. 10.
Each year, the Atlanta Business Chronicle recognizes organizations and individuals in Atlanta that are navigating inclusion in a time of increasing social change. This year, Comcast was recognized alongside two additional companies for embracing equality across all areas of diversity, including age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race and religion.
The award was given to Comcast for its commitment to promoting DE&I initiatives externally, through programs like Project UP, The Farm and SportsTech, as well as for its dynamic DEI& Belonging (DEI&B) initiatives, such its prolific Employee Resource Group (ERG) directory creating inclusive opportunities company-wide. Rhayanna McNish, a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Coordinator at Comcast’s Central Division, is responsible for nominating Comcast for the award.
“Not only words, but in action – it is evident that Comcast truly values belonging and is genuinely committed to celebrating the people that contribute to our overall success regardless of age, background, goals or any other diversifying quality,” McNish said. “From my role in DEI&B, I have had a glimpse behind the curtain of the work and commitment that we, as a company, have in creating and inspiring real change within our walls and in the community. I was excited to nominate Comcast for this award.”
In McNish’s nomination she recalled that one goal for Comcast’s Central Division is to invite a culture that celebrates belonging and diversity for its employees, and to continue to empower their work and diversify the industry.
“I’m proud and impressed with Rhayanna’s passion for her work, and the work we do as a whole,” said Kay Allen-Brownlee, Senior Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging. “With that, I am doubly honored that the Atlanta Business Chronicle then awarded us ‘Outstanding Diversity in an Organization.’ We know that a diverse and inclusive organization is a more innovative and successful one. By building a solid foundation for DEI&B, it allows our business to manage moments of social impact and create a company culture that is reflective of the communities we serve.”
