Comcast Makes Significant Investments in Charleston to Support Workforce Readiness and Digital Inclusion

On February 24, Comcast joined Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg to host a special celebration in support of future workforce readiness and digital inclusion in Charleston. The event highlighted the 10th anniversary of Comcast’s Internet Essentials, the company’s broadband adoption program for low-income households.

Military Magnet Academy students and Charleston Area Urban League (CAUL) members in attendance received free laptop computers. Comcast also announced a $25,000 grant contribution to the Charleston Digital Corridor. Funds will support the organization’s Diversity Initiative, as well as the CDCu Education Initiative for local entrepreneurs. Another $20,000 grant will support the CAUL’s ongoing diversity and digital inclusion efforts.

The installation of new Comcast Lift Zone at the St. Julian Devine Community Center was also announced.
