Comcast Foundation Announces $100,000 in Grants to Support the Asian American Community in Atlanta
(Atlanta) August 11, 2021: Comcast today announced it has awarded $100,000 in grants to two Atlanta area nonprofit organizations focused on supporting the Asian American community in greater Atlanta. Comcast has awarded $75,000 to Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Atlanta, and $25,000 to the Center for Pan-Asian Community Services.
Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Atlanta is the first and only nonprofit legal advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the civil rights of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders in Georgia and the Southeast. The organization is focused on policy advocacy, organizing and civic engagement, impact litigation and legal services.
The Center for Pan-Asian Community Services is a nonprofit organization located in Atlanta. Their mission is to promote self-sufficiency and equity for immigrants, refugees, and the underprivileged through comprehensive health and social services, capacity building and advocacy.
“Comcast has a long history of supporting diversity, equity and inclusion in Atlanta and across the country, and we are honored to align with these two critically important organizations,” said Jason Gumbs, Comcast Regional SVP in Atlanta.
In addition to the grants from the Comcast Foundation, Comcast also responds to community needs through local sponsorships and in-kind support, such as airing public service announcements, employee volunteerism, and providing technology equipment and services to organizations across the country.
The Comcast Foundation continues to build on its efforts through expanding access to technology to promote digital inclusion, helping individuals build skills for the digital economy, and encouraging innovation and entrepreneurialism.
In 2019, Comcast invested a total of $13.7 million in cash and in-kind contributions in Georgia.
