Comcast Provides Update on Storm Related Activities in Nashville
Company has now opened 8,500 Free Xfinity WiFi hotspots throughout impacted areas

More than 100 extra crews being deployed from neighboring areas to support restoration efforts
NASHVILLE – March 6, 2020 – To assist the Middle Tennessee community as it recovers from the devasting tornados that swept through the community this week, Comcast has set up its Xfinity WiFi van to provide free wireless internet service so residents and emergency personnel can stay connected.
The customized van is outfitted with six Wi-Fi access points, which can provide wireless internet connectivity to thousands of users over a 500-square-foot area.
The vehicle is set up at the corner of 7th and Garfield near the Nashville Rescue Mission, and is open beginning today, March 6, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through the weekend. Once services are restored in the area, the van will be moved to other areas of need.
Comcast has also opened 8,500 Wi-Fi hotspots throughout many of the impacted areas. They are free to anyone who needs them, including non-Xfinity customers.

Comcast’s Xfinity retail stores are now accepting food donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank. Comcast has Xfinity stores in Nashville, Bellevue, Hendersonville, Franklin, Hermitage and Murfreesboro.
Comcast is working to restore services in storm-affected areas as quickly as possible. The company is deploying more than 100 additional crews that are joining locally based teams to repair lines that deliver Internet, video, phone and other services to customers in the storm-impacted region.
Customers should remember that emergency management procedures dictate that power must be restored first and Comcast must receive clearance that it is safe for its crews to begin restoration work.
If Comcast services are down in an area because of a power outage, local power must be restored before video, phone and internet services can begin working again. In some cases, customers may have power back but not their Xfinity services because commercial power has not been restored to Comcast’s network in their area.
CONNECTING TO WIFI
Access to the Wi-Fi hotspots is free to anyone who needs them, including non-Xfinity customers. To access XFINITY WiFi hotspots, users should:
- Visit com/wififor a map of Xfinity WiFi outdoor and SMB hotspots.
- Once at a hotspot, select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspots and then launch a browser.
- Xfinity Internet customers can sign in with their username and password and will be automatically connected at Xfinity WiFi hotspots in the future.
- Non-Comcast subscribers can connect by clicking the “Accept & Connect” button and will be able to renew their complimentary sessions every two hours.
