Comcast’s Multi-Gigabit Fiber Network Extended to More Areas Across Greater Memphis
Investment designed to deliver 10-gigagbit speeds and advanced services to Collierville and Tunica
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – September 29, 2017 – Comcast Business today announced an expansion of a multi-million dollar fiber optic network designed to deliver 10-gigabit speeds to the Greater Memphis business community. The network is being extended to serve businesses and government offices in Collierville, Tenn., and Tunica, Miss., offering highly scalable and ultra-fast Internet connectivity, Wi-Fi and cloud-based voice solutions.
Specifically, the Town of Tunica has selected Comcast Business Ethernet for enhanced connectivity between 16 government and community facilities, including eight recreation centers, to provide Wi-Fi for guests. The advanced voice, data and cloud services will also support safety and security upgrades for the town’s casinos.
The Town of Collierville is upgrading their network to fiber at the city’s Town Hall to improve operations and boost efficiency. They are also deploying Wi-Fi at city parks providing residents and guests with free access to the Internet. Comcast’s infrastructure investments will support future growth for additional government offices and area businesses.
The fiber-based network for both locations is scheduled for completion during the fourth quarter of 2017.
“Both Tunica and Collierville have growing technology needs and important government and community resources that require high levels of performance and security,” said Michelle Pluskota, VP of Business Services for Comcast. “Today’s news also positions Tunica and Collierville as premier destinations for businesses looking to leverage the fastest speeds and most advanced technology available.”
In 2016, Comcast Business completed a multi-million-dollar network investment across Memphis, capable of delivering up to 10-gigabit speeds to local businesses. This investment helps organizations offer reliable services and innovative products to meet the technology demands of their customers.
Comcast Business serves schools, businesses, hospitals, and other organizations that require large amounts of bandwidth, are looking to link multiple locations, or that plan to connect their offices to a third-party data center. Services offered include:
- Ethernet Private Line: point-to-point connectivity between two customer sites for bandwidth-intensive applications.
- Ethernet Virtual Private Line: point-to-multipoint connection to enable customers to tailor bandwidth, performance characteristics, and cost.
- Ethernet Network Service: multipoint-to-multipoint connectivity to connect organizations with high-bandwidth requirements and multiple locations across Comcast’s network.
- Ethernet Dedicated Internet: continuous, high-bandwidth connectivity between customers’ LANs and the public Internet.
Nationally, Comcast Business’s Ethernet services are delivered over an advanced network that spans 140,000 miles and features a 100 Gbps backbone and expanded local footprint through Ethernet over HFC. Bandwidth is available up to 10 Gbps and can be scaled in increments and offered in three different classes of service, backed by strict service level agreements and monitored 24x7x365 from Comcast’s dedicated Network Operations Centers.
