Comcast Extends Network, Boosts Wi-Fi Coverage in Downtown Nashville to Keep Residents, Businesses, and Tourists Connected
Comcast offers more hotspots than any other local provider, at no additional cost to customers
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 30, 2016) – Comcast announced today it has extended its network throughout Lower Broadway and the 8th Avenue area of downtown Nashville. With this investment, Comcast is able to serve more residential and business customers, and offer dozens of new XFINITY WiFi hotspots in this quickly growing section of Nashville. Comcast has already activated numerous downtown hotspots and with more than 170,000 total hotspots, Comcast is the largest Wi-Fi provider in greater Nashville.
“Today’s announcement reaffirms our commitment to offer the fastest Internet speeds and most cutting-edge technologies to the growing number of Nashville residents and businesses,” said Valerie Gillespie, Area Vice President and General Manager, Comcast. “We are pleased to be Nashville’s largest Wi-Fi provider, and understand that customers have come to expect a seamless online experience wherever they go. These new Wi-Fi hotspots are another way we are enhancing the overall customer experience.”
In recent years, Comcast has added nearly 400 miles of network in greater Nashville, and has increased Internet speeds virtually every year for more than a decade. In 2015, the company launched Gigabit Pro, a professional-grade residential Internet service that delivers 2-Gbps upload and download speeds, and in February 2016, Comcast announced it would bring 1-Gbps service to greater Nashville via the world’s first DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem.
“We appreciate Comcast making this important technology investment in downtown Nashville,” said Joshua H. Smith, owner of the award-winning Standard at the Smith House. “Our customers and staff will greatly benefit from Comcast’s advanced services and convenient Wi-Fi offerings.”
