Helping to build young leaders who are creating more inclusive environments that celebrate diversity is a mission that Just Communities of Arkansas (JCA) is actively engaged in with Central Arkansas students. Comcast recently presented a $5,000 check to JCA for the Ourtown program. Ourtown is designed for high school students of different races, cultures and religions, who want to develop their leadership skills, learn how to manage changes in diversity and work with school administrators to create a more inclusive school environment that celebrates diversity.
Held in conjunction with the 2016 Annual Walk for Community in downtown Little Rock, the check presentation was a highlight of the program rally for the over 300 walkers that included Arkansas Representative Charles Blake, District 36; Arkansas Senator Joyce Elliott, District 33; Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola; and Ourtown participants, families and JCA friends. JCA Director Ruth Shepherd shared her heartfelt thanks to Comcast presenter Evangeline Parker-Guest and reflected on the long-standing partnership with Comcast.
