Comcast to Double its Customer Care Staff in Knoxville

Nearly 250 customer care roles planned as part of Comcast’s
nationwide effort to enhance the customer experience

(Knoxville, Tenn.) – October 22, 2015: Comcast announced it will fill nearly 250 customer care positions in Knoxville over the next two years. The positions will support service-related inquiries for subscribers.

To accommodate the expansion, Comcast is making significant renovations to its Knoxville facility, located at 5720 Asheville Highway, with completion expected in late December 2015.

“We want to congratulate Comcast on today’s announcement and welcome these jobs to Knox County and East Tennessee,” said Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam.

Over the last 18 months, Comcast has also filled nearly 200 Customer Care positions in Nashville.

Comcast’s aggressive hiring efforts support the company’s nationwide focus on improving the customer service experience, which includes:

  • Hiring 5,500 new workers over the next three years and adding three new call centers, part of a $300 million investment being made in 2015.
  • Investing in technology and training to give employees the tools they need to deliver excellent service.
  • Simplifying billing and creating better policies for customers.
  • Renovating hundreds of stores across the country and developing new technologies that will let customers interact with us at their convenience.
  • Offering an app that allows customers to view the status of their Comcast technician and rate their appointments, and a $20 credit when a technician is late or doesn’t show up.
  • Tripling the size of its social care team to serve customers more quickly.

“Today’s announcement signals the latest chapter in our nationwide effort to transform the way customers do business with Comcast,” said Doug Guthrie, Regional SVP at Comcast. “By adding additional Customer Care employees in Knoxville, we are reaffirming our commitment to this region while sending a clear message that customer satisfaction is our top priority.”

“As one of Knox County’s largest employers, Comcast continues to support our county’s robust growth by investing in our greatest asset: our people,” said Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett. “Between its hiring efforts, and the redesign of its new facility, it is clear that Comcast is focused on enhancing the customer service experience.”
