Multi-Million Dollar Broadband Expansion Brings Local Connectivity, New Services and Community Support to Gordon County

Comcast has completed a broadband expansion project in Gordon County, Georgia, bringing reliable, high-speed Internet, mobile and security services from Xfinity and Comcast Business to residents and businesses for the first time.

This investment represents Comcast’s ongoing commitment to closing the digital divide in communities across the Southeast – bringing more residents and businesses the tools they need to thrive in today’s digital world.

“We’re proud to partner with Comcast to bring faster, more reliable Internet to Gordon County,” said Bud Owens, Chairman, Gordon County Board of Commissioners. “Expanding broadband access opens the door to economic development, supports our local businesses and gives families and students the connectivity they need to succeed. This investment represents a major step forward for our community.”

To celebrate the launch, Comcast hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at The Boys & Girls Club of North Georgia, followed by a community block party. During the event, Comcast and local leaders surprised nearly 100 students with free laptops, helping ensure more young people have the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond.

The laptop giveaway is part of Project UP, the company’s $1 billion commitment to create digital opportunity through programs and community partnerships that connect people to the Internet, advance economic mobility and open doors for the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers and creators.

Comcast also announced that the Club will become one of its newest Lift Zones – a dedicated space with free, high-speed Wi-Fi to help students and families get online, complete schoolwork, apply for jobs and build digital skills.

The event marked another chapter in Comcast’s ongoing partnership with The Boys & Girls Club of North Georgia. In 2024, Comcast provided $37,500 to support program development and community initiatives at the Club.

“From funding support that helps us grow our programs to the announcement of the new Lift Zone that will expand digital access for our members, their commitment to this community is clear.”
