Comcast Inspires Entrepreneurs

In Nashville, Comcast Business hosted a Small Business Symposium at Tech Hill Commons, bringing together local entrepreneurs for a day of learning, networking, and inspiration. The event featured a panel of small business leaders, including recipients of the Comcast RISE grant, who shared their journeys and insights on navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship.

Comcast RISE is part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion initiative to connect people to internet access, deliver digital skills training, and economic mobility. Comcast RISE was created to help businesses and their communities thrive with a focus on economic growth. Through Comcast RISE, 14,000 small businesses have been awarded over $140 million in monetary, marketing and technology grants. Nashville was selected as one of the five cities for this year’s RISE grant awards.

Panelist Danielle McGee, Founder and CEO of Black Business Boom, shared how the RISE grant helped elevate her brand through commercial exposure and increased visibility. “I truly appreciate the opportunity to share my experience not only as a small business owner but as a Comcast RISE recipient. The RISE grant package was a huge help in gaining momentum for Black Business Boom. Our commercial ran on TV and digital channels, which led to a significant uptick from businesses and other organizations wanting more information about my business. I’m grateful to Comcast for their investment in small businesses.”

“Entrepreneurship can be difficult terrain to navigate,” said Shana Berkeley, Executive Director at Corner to Corner. “These conversations are necessary for small business owners at all experience levels. We all have room for growth and that comes from learning and collaboration.”

Comcast Business continues to lead the way in providing innovative solutions and ongoing support to small businesses throughout Nashville. Two of the speakers featured on the panel discussion are recipients of the Comcast RISE grant. Memorie K. White Founder of Providence Title and Danielle McGee Founder and CEO of Black Business Boom are both previous recipients of the Comcast RISE grant.

“Comcast Business provided us with the RISE technology package, which included essential devices like laptops and tablets that we continue to rely on today,” said Memorie K. White, Founder of Providence Title. “The pandemic has transformed how we work and live, making mobility crucial for our operations. While we do have a physical office, the ability to close transactions remotely has become a game-changer for our clients. Thanks to Comcast Business, my team and I can effectively meet our clients’ needs and time constraints, enhancing our overall service delivery.”
