What About the Grant Interested You?
Memorie: I participated in an online entrepreneurship seminar, and I remember a link was shared with different small business grant opportunities. Comcast RISE was one of those links, so I was able to complete my application fairly quickly, and then I got an email that I was selected.

How Did Comcast RISE Positively Impact Your Business?
Memorie: I received the Comcast RISE technology package, which included devices such as laptops and tablets – which we still use today! Since the pandemic, life and business have become more mobile. Yes, we have an office and operate within our office walls, but for many of our clients, the ability to close remotely online is extremely helpful. My team and I can meet our clients’ needs and time limitations.
This flexibility is not only helpful to our clients but also to my team. Everyone is looking for work-life balance, and the ability to help your client with a high level of service while working remotely at home or even in the parking lot while waiting for your kids to get out of school . . . that is a gift.
What Drives Your Passion for Your Business?
Memorie: We handle a wide variety of transactions – buyers, builders, and contractors – but also work with area non-profits whose mission is to provide ownership to those who otherwise may not have access to ownership. Over the years, we’ve grown the practice to be able to dedicate our time and services, including providing closing services to partner non-profits. Additionally, we found another way to serve our community is to provide financial education. I’m passionate about people understanding how to secure affordable housing and how people can make little and big changes to find themselves more attractive to a closing agent or title company.
On a personal level, I have witnessed our impact on our clients. Every tear. Every cheer. Every smile. They live with me, and I see the impact of helping people secure their homes. It is a very special moment to experience with someone. To help clients and families get into their new home. It can be powerful to see.
What Advice Would You Give Those Thinking of Applying for Comcast RISE?
Memorie: Number one – just do it! Put yourself out there. Get your information together and submit. Why not, right? If selected, the next step is most important, which is number two – be prepared. Yay! You’ve won, but what is next? Make sure you have a plan in place to best utilize the grant, equipment, and resources that have been provided.
