Winter Storm Cora

Saturday, January 11, 2025 @ 12:50 p.m.

Winter Storm Cora has left icy roads and freezing temperatures. Fallen trees and limbs have caused power outages, with over 61,000 residents affected across our footprint. Our team has been working throughout the night, and closely with local power companies, to quickly and safely restore services. As soon as power is restored to homes and businesses – our AI-assisted network and field teams take immediate action to access outage areas and work speedily to regain connectivity for our customers.

Comcast technician works around the clock after winter storm to get customers back online.

For many getting back online involves the following steps:

  • Once power is back, your Internet and other services should return.
  • Sometimes, residential power is restored before commercial power, which might delay Internet and other services from returning.
  • In areas of significant damage, we coordinate with utility companies and authorities to safely access and repair our network.
  • We’ve strategically place fuel-based generators to temporarily power our network where there are commercial power outages. These are managed and refueled around the clock by our techs.
Tech works to restore connectivity to customers after winter weather.

We’re here for you. Our techs have boots-on-the-ground, checking equipment for repairs, and visiting homes and businesses to ensure service. Our engineers and support staff are monitoring the network 24/7 to find areas of concern and virtually heal our systems as seamlessly as possible. Thank you for your patience as we work to restore your connection.

Weather Map for Cora

Our emergency response teams continue to track Winter Storm Cora. Snow and ice are expected to cover a large segment of the south including Little Rock, Nashville and Atlanta. The significant weight of ice may down trees which could destroy lines and equipment, which can cause power and internet outages.

  • Once power is restored, often our services are restored.
  • In areas of significant damage, we will work hand in hand with local utility companies and government authorities to safely access and repair our network.
  • If you have power, but your internet is not restored, you can visit our outage map to learn if your street or community is impacted.
  • If your address is not listed in the outage map and you do not have service, please visit your Xfinity or Comcast Business app for further assistance.

Homes and businesses can prepare for severe weather by following these tips.

Internet Backup Devices

For residents who have Xfinity’s Storm-Ready WiFi, the device and battery backup will help keep your home online for up to 4 hours through network and power outages. Storm-Ready WiFi will automatically switch to a 4G LTE backup cellular network when services are interrupted allowing for continuous coverage. For businesses with Connection Pro, the battery pack provides Internet backup for 16 hours and the cellular router instantly switches over to an available wireless connection with the primary connection is disrupted.
