Network Expansion Brings Xfinity and Comcast Business services to Residents and Businesses

Expansion made possible by Capital Projects Fund broadband grant and private funding by Comcast

Comcast is connecting nearly 3,000 new homes and businesses in Charleston and Beaufort Counties, SC to reliable, high-speed Internet by expanding its network to the region, enhancing digital infrastructure, promoting economic growth, and positioning residents and local businesses for success in an increasingly digital world. The network expansion brings Internet, mobile, entertainment, and security services from Xfinity and Comcast Business services to residents and businesses.

The expansion is made possible by private funding from Comcast and grant funding from the American Rescue Plan Act – Capital Projects Fund administered by the South Carolina Broadband Office.

“This network expansion is a significant step forward for Beaufort County,” said York Glover, Beaufort County District I Council Member. “It not only provides essential high-speed Internet access to our residents and businesses but also supports our community’s growth and development, especially in rural communities like St. Helena and Dale. We are grateful for Comcast’s investment and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our region.”

“The introduction of Comcast’s advanced network services in Charleston County is a game-changer for our community,” said Margie Bright Matthews, Charleston County Senator. “Access to high-speed Internet is crucial for education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. This project aligns with our commitment to improving the quality of life for all our residents and fostering a thriving local economy.”

Residents can visit Xfinity.com/mytown and enter their addresses for additional details on construction timing and upcoming service availability. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Comcast’s most recent expansion to the Lowcountry is part of the company’s latest investment in South Carolina which also includes expansions to Calhoun Falls, Aiken, Hampton County and Moncks Corner.

“We are thrilled to bring reliable, high-speed Internet to nearly 3,000 homes and businesses in the Lowcountry,” said Melinda Little, Comcast Regional Vice President of Government Affairs and Community Investments. “This expansion highlights Comcast’s dedication to enhancing digital infrastructure and promoting economic growth.
