Comcast is proud to announce it has awarded $20,000 in grants to support ongoing disaster relief and recovery efforts in Greenwood, SC, following the impact of Hurricane Helene. The donations allocated are $10,000 to The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lakelands and $10,000 to the United Way of the Lakelands.

“As communities across Greenwood continue to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, it is essential to support the local organizations that are at the forefront of relief and recovery efforts,” said Mike McArdle, Comcast Regional Senior Vice President. “We are honored to contribute to these vital initiatives and help the people of Greenwood rebuild and thrive.”

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lakelands are utilizing the grant to provide critical services to children and families affected by the hurricane, offering a safe space and essential resources during this challenging time. The United Way of the Lakelands is leveraging the funds to support a range of emergency services, including shelter, food, and financial assistance for those most in need.

“Support from partners like Comcast NBCUniversal is invaluable as we work to address the immediate and long-term needs of our community,” said Marisel Losa, President and CEO of United Way of the Lakelands. “These grants are making a real difference in the lives of those affected by Hurricane Helene.”

Comcast NBCUniversal’s commitment to the Greenwood community is part of a broader effort to support hurricane recovery across the Southeast. In October, the company announced it will provide $600,000 in cash and in-kind contributions to multiple community organizations in Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, highlighting its dedication to helping communities recover and rebuild.

These efforts are part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing resources and support to communities during times of unexpected need. Please visit the Big South webpage for more information on the latest developments and updates following Hurricane Helene and our relief efforts.
