Comcast announced today the opening of its newest “Lift Zone” at the Liberty County Boys & Girls Club at 100 Deen St. Hinesville, Georgia. Powered by Comcast, Lift Zones offer free high-speed Internet in places where communities can learn digital skills and pursue academic, professional and personal advancement.

“We are excited to partner with Comcast to bring a Lift Zone to the Liberty County Boys & Girls Club” said Mark Lindsay, CEO of the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club. “This initiative will provide countless opportunities for our youth and families to access critical resources, develop new skills, and set themselves on a path to success. The power of high-speed internet can open doors, and this collaboration is all about helping our community thrive.”

Comcast has a long-standing partnership with the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club in Savannah, having supported the organization through multiple initiatives aimed at bridging the digital divide. In 2016, Comcast provided a grant to the club to expand its “My.Future” technology initiative, empowering youth with the digital skills necessary for success in today’s tech-driven world. Additionally, in 2021, Comcast furthered its commitment by launching a WiFi-connected Lift Zone at the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club, providing free high-speed internet access to help community members stay connected, advance their education, and pursue new opportunities.

“Comcast is committed to closing the digital divide, and this Lift Zone is another step toward ensuring everyone has the tools and access they need to succeed in today’s digital world,” said Melinda Little, VP of Government Affairs and Community Investment at Comcast. “We’re proud to work alongside trusted community partners like the Boys & Girls Club to empower individuals and families with resources that foster academic, professional, and personal growth.”

The Lift Zones program is part of Comcast’s Project UP – a comprehensive initiative to advance digital equity and build a future of unlimited possibilities. Comcast has launched more than 1,250 WiFi-connected Lift Zones in community centers nationwide.

Lift Zones provide Internet access outside the home and complements Comcast’s Internet Essentials program that offers in-home broadband connectivity. Lift Zones help students, veterans, and anyone who for a variety of reasons, including homelessness or housing insecurity, need somewhere to connect to the Internet. Lift Zones are part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion commitment to advance digital equity and economic mobility.
