From College Strides to Career Steps, Honoring National Intern Day

In honor of National Intern Day, Comcast Central Division recognizes the growth and talent of nearly 50 students from academic institutions across the country who have joined the company’s award-winning and competitive internship program.  Spanning 12 states, the company’s Central Division is committed to strategically investing in and recruiting emerging talent, ensuring a solid foundation for tomorrow’s innovators.

“At Comcast, we pride ourselves on the fact that our interns get the opportunity to partner with executive leadership and work on real projects that impact the business,” said Christine Ryan, VP of Human Resources, Central Division. “The truth is, we look at it the other way – our leaders get the opportunity to partner, learn and be mentored by our interns through the real projects they are working on.”

THE INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE

Starting in May 2024, this Intern Class embarked on their Comcast journey allowing them to connect, peer-to-peer, and participate in career workshops led by senior leadership, preparing them for their roles this summer.

Providing more than just a line on a young professional’s resume; the company’s internship program offers a dynamic learning environment where interns can apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. The program prides itself on nurturing professional growth through meaningful tasks, mentorship, and opportunities to collaborate with diverse teams. The internship program not only prepares interns for their future careers but also inspires a passion for continuous learning and innovation.

Comcast’s internship program is nationally recognized for its excellence and equity, ranking in the top 10 for Best Media, Human Resources, and Strategy and Business Development internships by Vault.  It also ranks in the top 50 for Racial & Ethnic Diversity and LGBTQ+ Diversity.

“Our Central Division Internship Program is dedicated to fostering the next generation of leaders by providing hands-on experience, mentorship, and a supportive environment where interns can thrive and make a meaningful impact. We believe that by investing in our interns, we are shaping the future of our industry and creating a pipeline of talented professionals ready to take on tomorrow’s challenges,” said Ernesto Sosa, Senior University Relations Program Manager, Comcast Central Division.

THE INTERNET PODCAST

Throughout the summer, Central Division interns create their version of the Internet Podcast – “for interns from interns.” The Internet Podcast shows each intern’s “POV” with this season’s theme being Gen Z focused. The podcast’s conversations are transparent and authentic, giving listeners a deep dive into corporate life as an intern. The Podcast’s team focused on making season 3 relatable for college-age listeners curious about stepping into a 9 to 5 environment.

“After meeting my intern cohort during orientation, it was clear to me how special this group is and it really inspired me to be a part of telling everyone’s story and experience. When the opportunity to be a part of the podcast presented itself to me, it was a no brainer to be a part of it,” said Kennedy Ryman, Finance Intern, Comcast Central Division.

Season 3 of the Internet Podcast will be available on Podbean, Spotify, and YouTube beginning August 2024.
