Comcast đź’śs Music City
A message from Mike McArdle, Senior Vice President for Comcast South Region
Nearly 500 leaders from Comcast’s Central Division met in Nashville, Tenn. last week for their annual “CD500” Leadership Kickoff. While in Music City, our leaders participated in several boots-on-the-ground opportunities to connect with area residents and business owners, as well as showed our gratitude for the city’s welcoming Southern hospitality. Despite being in Nashville for only a few days, we were able to engage, understand, and appreciate the growing cityscape, and interact with numerous communities surrounding this harmonious city.
Did you know that Comcast has been providing service in Nashville for over 20 years? In the last three years alone, we’ve invested more than $689 million in technology and network infrastructure across the great state of Tennessee. Additionally, we invest in our local communities through Project UP, a comprehensive 10-year, $1 billion initiative designed to bridge the digital divide and build a future of unlimited possibilities. Over the last three years, the company has provided $9.5 million in cash and in-kind funding to support Tennessee non-profits and community events through this initiative.
Project UP in Nashville
During the visit, our leaders completed a volunteer project at Hands On Nashville. Our Comcast Team UP volunteers assembled 1,000 first aid kits to support disaster relief efforts in Nashville and across the state.
There are seven Lift Zones in and around Nashville (search this map for area locations), including the Andrew Jackson Clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee, which was installed in 2020. Comcast’s Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer Loren Hudson toured the Lift Zone and met with club leaders and members
Comcast Celebrates Nashvillians
We also learned that cereal is an important dietary staple! We found that out at Wanna Spoon Cereal Bar, as our Comcast Business team took over this local sweet spot for the afternoon and opened its doors to the locals for free food, giveaways, and gab. Not only did we have the opportunity to partake in the goodies, but our leaders and employees also engaged and connected with the nearby business owners and residents to learn more about the needs of Nashvillians and how, as a committed partner, we could help make that a reality with fast and reliable Internet service along with continued community support.
Throughout the two-day conference, our leaders had opportunities to see Nashville’s current growth first-hand. From surprise customer appreciation visits to construction tours and finally a visit to Tennessee State University’s SMART Technology Innovation Center, we got a glimpse of Nashville’s spirit and its dynamic future. We’re proud to be part of the fabric of this robust community as it moves toward a digital tomorrow.
