Comcast is Invested in Tennessee

Comcast is a committed partner and leading communications provider in Tennessee. Over the years, we have built a highly skilled employee workforce, deployed innovative products and invested in advanced broadband service across the state to offer some of the nation’s fastest internet speeds.

Network Expansions and Enhancements

Comcast has committed more than $629 million in technology and network infrastructure over the last three years in Tennessee. This has allowed us to deliver an even greater customer experience and increase reliability and speeds. These investments have also helped us double network capacity every 2.5 years to stay ahead of growing demand, an explosion of new devices and technologies, and more people than ever learning and working remotely.

Recently, we announced that we are accelerating our multi-gig deployment in Tennessee with Comcast’s latest Xfinity 10G Network upgrade.  The Xfinity 10G Network is the new brand for our network that delivers a powerful connection to our customers that will continue to get smarter, faster, more reliable, and secure. It is the network that our customers use today and the technology that will power their connectivity experience in the future.

With these improvements, Comcast is also rolling out new download speeds of up to 2 gigabits-per-second (Gbps), and up to 5x-to-10x faster upload speeds in Tennessee.

The Volunteer State now has the foundational network in place to begin leveraging new symmetrical multi-gigabit Internet options that can be delivered across Comcast’s existing networks with less cost.

Rural Broadband Investments

Comcast has also been working to close the broadband gap in rural Tennessee, and we’re focused on making the significant investments that are required to quickly connect more families.

Closing the divide has been one of our most important community investment priorities, and one that we have been successful at through State and local partnerships.

In recent years, Comcast has successfully expanded its network to such places as Tipton, Roane, Campbell, Dickson, and Cheatham Counties – bringing high-speed broadband services to thousands of homes and businesses. We are continuously investing in the evolution of our network and seeking opportunities to further expand access and adoption in East Tennessee.

Bridging the Digital Divide

For over a decade, Comcast has been an active leader in bridging the digital divide. This includes launching our broadband adoption program, Internet Essentials. Since its launch in 2011, Internet Essentials has connected more than 10 million Americans to the Internet at home – including more than 600,000 in Tennessee. It’s part of our $1 billion Project Up commitment to closing the digital divide, advancing economic mobility, and opening doors for the next generation of creators.

We’re proud of the work we do for our Tennessee customers and, even more broadly, that our programs have connected more Tennesseans.
