The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) is the state’s premiere tech professional group, boasting over 30,000 members, nearly two dozen societies, five statewide chapters and over 150 events annually. A TAG member for more than six years, Comcast Business Vice President of Marketing Katie Klein discusses the association’s importance, “TAG gives Comcast employees a way to be more connected to people inside our organization and provides an opportunity to engage with the community at large.” Klein also serves as a board member on TAG’s Media & Entertainment Society. “To make the most of one’s TAG membership, people should seek societies that interest them,” said Klein. “Whatever your goals are, find groups within TAG that pique your interest, get engaged, and build your network. There are many enrichment programs to help broaden your knowledge.”

Many association members value the opportunities for networking and collaboration with like-minded people. Through meetings and events, members can connect with industry experts, thought leaders, and peers who share similar interests and goals. Comcast Marketing Communications Specialist Bebita Metellus chairs the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Society of TAG. In this role, Bebita supports professionals in the tech space through a variety of initiatives including in-person events throughout the year like a recent musical showcase to celebrate Black Music Month to an annual recommended reading series which covers professional development, diversity and inclusion, and technology. Bebita said, “There are so many opportunities year-round to learn and grow through TAG. Being able to bring my personal passion for DE&I and connecting with others is truly rewarding.”
Advocacy and Industry Influence
Professional organizations play a crucial role in advocating for the interests of their members and the industry as a whole. “TAG and sponsors like Comcast Business make incredible strides in government relations,” said President and CEO of TAG, Larry K. Williams. “We have contributed to Georgia being named the number one place to work for nine years running.” Beyond the countless education and network opportunities, association members gain a platform to contribute to policy discussions and influence decisions that shape the future of technology.
