Comcast to Participate in Supplies 4 Success Back-to-School Event in Acworth

More than 300 students to receive backpacks and resources to prepare for upcoming school year

Comcast will participate in the Supplies 4 Success back-to-school event on July 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Allatoona Resource Center. The facility is located at 6503 Glade Road SE in Acworth.

The center is one of seven sites in Northwest Georgia where a total of 2,500 backpacks will be given away. More than 300 students are registered for the event, where they can receive free health checkups and haircuts. Kona Ice, a bookmobile and a food truck will also be present.

Comcast’s Internet Essentials ambassador Kheisha Harrison will volunteer at the event by handing out free items and sharing information on Comcast’s Internet Essentials program and the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).

Internet Essentials is the nation’s largest and most successful private-sector low-income broadband adoption program. Since launching in 2011, the program has connected more than 10 million people to the Internet at home.

ACP is a federal initiative that provides eligible customers up to a $30 per month credit toward their Internet and Xfinity Mobile services for the duration of the program.

“We are excited to partner with Supplies 4 Success to get students ready for the upcoming school year,” said Jason Gumbs, Comcast Regional SVP. “It is vital for today’s young learners to be connected to the Internet, and we look forward to providing valuable resources on how to receive free and low-cost service.”
