Homes and businesses benefit from 1.2 gigabit speed technology
FLORENCE, AL. -October 1, 2021 – Comcast announced today a multi-million-dollar upgrade that is bringing the fastest internet speeds available over Wi-Fi to Florence residents and businesses. Beginning immediately, customers can take advantage of advanced Wi-Fi technology capable of delivering 1.2 gigabit per second speeds to support the ever-increasing number of connected devices in their homes.
The upgrade to the Xfinity gigabit service is part of a national rollout that began in February 2021.The new internet service options are Xfinity Extreme (400 Mbps), Extreme Pro (800 Mbps) and Gig (1.2 Gbps). They are among the fastest and most widely available in the area and include on-the-go access to the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network.

Over the past three years, Comcast has made more than $152 million in technology and infrastructure investments in Alabama, including network upgrades.
Last month, Comcast also announced it completed significant fiber network buildouts designed to deliver 10-gigabit internet speeds to hundreds of businesses in Gadsden and The Shoals, including Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia and Florence.
