Comcast Partners with Raising Expectations in Atlanta to Bridge the Digital Divide

(Atlanta): August 3, 2021 – Comcast today announced the launch of a Wi-Fi-connected ‘Lift Zone’ in partnership with Raising Expectations, Inc. Located at 80 Joseph E. Lowery Street NW in Atlanta, Raising Expectations is a non-profit youth development organization that has served the Atlanta community for more than 14 years.

“Our organization positively impacts the lives of numerous children throughout Atlanta by providing extensive services to develop academic, social and civic abilities,” said Maria Armstrong, co-founder of Raising Expectations. “In partnership with Comcast, we are expanding this commitment to include critical Wi-Fi connectivity that will provide our valued members with access to much needed education and life resources.”

The Raising Expectations Lift Zone is part of Comcast’s nationwide $1 billion Internet Essentials commitment to bridging the digital divide by providing resources that help ‘in-need’ students and families participate in the digital economy.

Through Lift Zones, Comcast continues to provide robust, free Wi-Fi hotspots in safe community spaces, allowing students and families to get online, participate in distance learning and do their homework.  Many sites also serve adults, connecting them to online education, job searches, healthcare information and public assistance. The initiative provides free internet connectivity inside community centers and access to hundreds of hours of content.

In nearly 10 years, Comcast Internet Essentials has become the nation’s largest and most successful low-income internet adoption program and has connected millions of people. It offers households low-cost, broadband service for $9.95/month, the option to purchase a heavily subsidized computer and multiple options for free digital literacy training.
