Comcast Announces Completion of Major Technology Upgrade in Mobile, Alabama

Multi-million-dollar network investment supports faster internet speeds and  enhanced reliability for residents and businesses

(Mobile, AL) – March 15, 2021: Comcast today announced the completion of a major technology upgrade in Mobile, Alabama. The multi-million-dollar investment in the region is designed to better support the delivery of gigabit-speed internet and more reliable connectivity for residents and businesses.

Over the course of several months, Comcast completed its full infrastructure upgrade across the city, including the reconstruction of more than five miles of existing network as well as the upgrade of cable connections that run directly to over 3,400 customers’ homes

“Today’s announcement signals Comcast’s continued investment to deliver more reliable service, faster internet speeds and an improved overall experience for our customers across Mobile,” said Jason Gumbs, Comcast’s Regional SVP. “Residents and businesses alike now have access to one of the most advanced networks in the nation.”

Residents in the region will now experience a full digital network with greater network reliability and a platform for technologies of the future. The upgrade also provides greater bandwidth for more customers.

Over the last several years in Mobile, Comcast has deployed a high-performance, 10-gigabit network for the business community and launched a gigabit Internet service for businesses and residences. Comcast has also added thousands of outdoor Wi-Fi hotspots across the area, offering an unparalleled online experience for customers.
