Comcast Announces Completion of Major Technology Upgrade in Monroe, Louisiana
Multi-million-dollar network investment to support fast internet speeds, advanced technology to residents and businesses
(Monroe, La) – November 30, 2020: Comcast announced today the completion of a major technology investment in Monroe, La., designed to support up to 1-gigabit per second internet speeds and the most advanced services to residents and businesses.
Over the course of two months this year, Comcast rebuilt or upgraded its infrastructure across the city. This included the reconstruction of nearly 35 miles of network that was impacted by hurricanes this year.
“Today’s announcement signals a move toward more reliable service, fast internet speeds and a better overall experience for our customers in Monroe,” said Jason Gumbs, Comcast’s Regional Senior Vice President. “We are thankful to our teams of employees who traveled to Monroe from other states to support this two-month effort.”
Comcast also upgraded all its power supplies across the city, as well as the cable connections that run directly to customers’ homes. The city is now 100 percent digital.
Comcast has been very active in Monroe this storm season, providing Wi-Fi hotspots to all residents in need of a connection. The company has also brought its Wi-Fi van to Monroe to help customers without power stay connected.
