Memphis Comcast Employees Honor Martin Luther King and Black History Month Through Mid-South Food Drive

Comcast employees donating their time at a Food Drive

On February 5, Comcast employees in the Greater Memphis area delivered more than 600 pounds of food to the Mid-South Food Bank which provides food for families, children and seniors.

Comcast’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) including the Memphis Women’s Network and the Black Employee Network led the initiative and collaborated with Xfinity Stores, Comcast Business employees and other company departments to conduct a “Feed the Need Canned Food Drive” in honor of the 2020 Martin Luther King holiday and Black History Month.

“This donation will have a significant impact in the community and we are thankful to all of the Comcast employees for their support of the Mid-South Food Bank,” said Donald Brown, Community Relations Coordinator, Mid-South Food Bank.

The Mid-South Food Bank serves 31 counties including Shelby County. Last year, the food bank served over 200,000 people. The Mid-South Food Bank has three initiatives: feeding families, feeding children and feeding seniors.  Volunteers are encouraged to get involved and assist with mobile food pantries and at the food bank. A $5 donation to the Mid-South Food Bank can provide fifteen wholesome meals.
