AUGUSTA, GA. – August 6, 2018 – Comcast Business today announced it has nearly completed a multi-million dollar upgrade of its 700-mile fiber network in Augusta that will deliver internet speeds of up to 100-gigabits per second. The buildout, which began nine months ago and is expected to be completed by late September, will provide businesses, schools, hospitals and government organizations with highly scalable, ultra-fast Internet connectivity and cloud-based voice solutions.

According to the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, Augusta is home to a growing number of industries that could benefit from Comcast’s latest technology infusion, particularly cyber security, defense and manufacturing operations.

“Today’s announcement reinforces the importance of technology as a major consideration for cities looking to grow and attract multiple industries,” said Doug Guthrie, regional SVP for Comcast. “With this investment by Comcast, Augusta will soon be better positioned to support the next generation of business.”
