Comcast Leader Shares Her ‘Comcast Cares Day’ Experience

Jeania Dykes, Comcast South HR Manager and Women’s Network Committee Member

For five years, I have participated in my company’s “Comcast Cares Day” volunteer events in East Tennessee. From blood drives and park clean-ups, to school beautification projects, I have helped make a lasting impact alongside colleagues, family and friends.

My favorite Comcast Cares Day event was the 2017 project in Johnson City, where we helped build walls for a house belonging to a single mother and her son. We partnered with NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers who raced the next day at Bristol Motor Speedway.

It was fun working with the drivers and my colleagues, but getting to know the mother and her son made it even more special. Hearing how important this home was to her made our work even more meaningful.

As a Committee member of the Comcast Women’s Network, I stayed connected with Habitat for Humanity and found additional ways that the Women’s Network could support the family.   During the home dedication, we presented the mother with baskets of cleaning items and her son was presented with a Comcast Cares Day t-shirt signed by the Xfinity Race Car drivers who participated in the project, along with a picture of the family with the drivers. It was a great way to celebrate the completion of our project and this family’s new home!

Seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces is exactly why I love Comcast Cares Day!
