Comcast NBCUniversal Offers Scholarships for Community-Minded High School Seniors

Leaders and Achievers Program Recognizes Successes In and Out of the Classroom

NASHVILLE, Tenn., August 9, 2017 – Comcast NBCUniversal invites principals and guidance counselors to nominate graduating high school seniors for the Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program. Comcast Leaders and Achievers are high school seniors who have been selected for their outstanding community service, academic performance and leadership skills. The award, funded by the Comcast Foundation, is a one-time, $1,000 scholarship to be used toward tuition costs for college and other eligible postsecondary education and related expenses.

In this past academic year, Comcast NBCUniversal recognized more than more than 2,000 Leaders and Achievers nationwide. Since 2001, Comcast NBCUniversal has awarded more than $28 million in scholarships to approximately 27,000 students to help them pursue higher education.

“Students who are committed to academic excellence and their community are essential to great leadership,” said Comcast’s Regional Senior Vice President Doug Guthrie. “We are excited for another year of recognizing Comcast Leaders and Achievers.”

Principals or guidance counselors have the opportunity to nominate one student per school for the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship. Students nominated for the award must:

  • Be a full-time high school senior currently enrolled at a high school within a community served by Comcast or otherwise approved by Comcast.
  • Have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities in school activities or through work experiences.
  • Have a strong demonstrated commitment to community service
  • Plan to attend an accredited nonprofit college, university, or vocational/technical school in the United States.

Employees of Comcast, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and their immediate family members are not eligible to receive a Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship.
