Memphis ‘Comcast Cares Day’ Volunteer Project Draws Nearly 200 Volunteers, Despite Rain
On Saturday, April 22, nearly 200 Comcast volunteers, elected officials and community partners joined together to help beautify Alpha Omega Veterans Services in Memphis as a part of the 16th annual ‘Comcast Cares Day’.
Volunteers landscaped, created flower beds, and planted flowers at the main entrance of the office and living facility, and picked-up weeds and litter around the property.
Community partners who volunteered with Comcast included Latino Memphis, New Hope Baptist Church, United Way of the Mid-south, and the Memphis City Rocks group.
Mayor Jim Strickland kicked-off the event by proclaiming the day ‘Comcast Cares Day’ in Memphis.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to the Comcast Memphis employees and all the community volunteers for making it a wonderful Comcast Cares Day of service at Alpha Omega Veterans Services,” Cordell Walker, Executive Director, Alpha Omega Veterans Services, Inc.
Comcast Cares Day, which takes place each April during National Volunteer Month, is Comcast NBCUniversal’s companywide celebration of their year-round commitment to service and the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort in the country.
