Nine-story tower near Atlanta Braves’ SunTrust Park to house more than 1,000 employees

Comcast this week marked a milestone as the company held a topping off ceremony for its new divisional headquarters, a nine-story office tower that will be part of the Atlanta Braves stadium and mixed use complex under construction in Cobb County.

The new office tower opens in 2017 and overlooks the Atlanta Braves’ SunTrust Park, which opens next April. The building is part of The Battery — a live, work and play development the Braves are building along with SunTrust Park.

The space will house more than 1,000 Comcast employees and will include a dedicated home for the company’s growing workforce of technologists, engineers and software architects. It will serve as a primary technology development hub for Comcast, connecting directly via high-speed fiber to the company’s other major R&D centers in Silicon Valley, Philadelphia, and Denver.

The topping off ceremony is the latest in a string of events related to SunTrust Park and The Battery.

Earlier this month, Comcast Business announced it is building a new multi-site enterprise network for the Braves that will connect the team’s front offices at SunTrust Park with minor league team operations in Georgia and Virginia. As part of the agreement, Comcast Business will provide two 100 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) Ethernet lines into the new park.
