Comcast to Bring 10 Gigabit Internet Speeds to Savannah
Multi-million dollar investment designed to support Savannah’s local businesses, institutes of higher learning and government agencies
Savannah, Ga. – March 2, 2016 – Comcast Business today announced it will build a multi-million dollar fiber optic network in Savannah designed to deliver 10 gigabit speeds to local businesses. Starting in the third quarter of 2016, the fiber-based Ethernet service will provide businesses, colleges and universities, and government agencies with highly scalable and ultra-fast Internet connectivity and cloud-based voice solutions.
“We are proud to bring the network of the future to Savannah’s quickly growing business community,” said Doug Guthrie, regional SVP for Comcast. “This investment reinforces Savannah as a top location for those organizations requiring the fastest speeds and most advanced technology available.”
Savannah’s economy is heavily derived from the manufacturing, tourism and maritime transportation sectors. Savannah supports these and many other industries thanks to a superior infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and strong government and community resources. The military also plays an important role in the economic health of the city, with Fort Stewart just 40 miles away.
“We’re proud that the Savannah business community continues to experience robust growth,” said Stephen S. Green, Chairman of the Savannah Economic Development Authority. “Comcast’s investment makes Savannah a great solution for those prospective organizations looking for a high-tech market to call home.”
