Comcast Names Leaders And Achievers® Scholarship Recipients

Atlanta, GA – June 22, 2015 – The Comcast Foundation today announced the 2015-16 recipients of its annual Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program awards. Comcast awarded $1,000 scholarships to 60 students across greater Atlanta and 84 statewide, totaling $88,000 in assistance. One scholarship for $5,000 was awarded to Westlake High School graduate Christiana Oshotse during the East Point City Council meeting on June 15.

“Georgia’s Leaders and Achievers Scholarship winners embody what it takes to achieve academic and leadership excellence,” said Andy Macke, Vice President, External Affairs, Comcast. “We are excited to support them as they navigate through their educational journeys and know they’ll continue on a successful path.”

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program provides $1,000 scholarships to students who strive to achieve their potential, who are catalysts for positive change in their communities, who are involved in their schools, and who serve as models for their fellow students. The philosophy behind the program is to give young people every opportunity to prepare for the future and to engage them in their communities. The program also demonstrates the importance of civic involvement, and the value placed on civic involvement by the business community.

To date, Comcast has awarded more than $22.8 million to nearly 23,000 Leaders and Achievers Scholarship winners.
