Jackson, MS (June 16, 2015) – The Comcast Foundation today announced the 2015-16 recipients of its annual Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program awards. Comcast will honor eight area students at the company’s product lab, located at 5915 I-55 in North Jackson on June 25. The event begins at 11:45 a.m., and will feature a special luncheon for media, VIPs and other attendees. Comcast will then offer a technology demonstration to students and other attendees, followed by a tour of the C-Span bus from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.
“Our Leaders and Achievers Scholarship winners embody academic excellence and community service,” said Doug Guthrie, Regional SVP for Comcast. “We are honored to recognize these students, and look forward to supporting them in their educational endeavors.”
In total, Comcast has given 15 scholarships statewide this year, one of which is for $5,000.
The Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program provides $1,000 scholarships to students who strive to achieve their potential, who are catalysts for positive change in their communities, who are involved in their schools, and who serve as models for their fellow students. The philosophy behind the program is to give young people every opportunity to prepare for the future and to engage them in their communities. The program also demonstrates the importance of civic involvement, and the value placed on civic involvement by the business community.
