C-SPAN Bus Visits Little Rock

On Monday, November 3, the C-SPAN school bus arrived on the campus of Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR. More than 100 students and instructors from the education, criminal justice, and social sciences fields, as well as those from the student government association, visited the interactive multimedia bus.  Along with the programs and materials for classroom instruction, students learned more about potential C-SPAN internships.

Philander Smith College is a private, residential, co-educational, four-year undergraduate liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist church and a founding member of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Philander is classified as a baccalaureate (liberal arts) college by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Top of Form

The C-SPAN Bus attends events across the country, including book festivals, education conferences, and political gatherings. It works with local cable providers to visit high schools, universities, libraries, and various other locations.

The Local Content Vehicles and crew travel the nation capturing unique stories along the way. The LCV crew also speaks to students and other groups about filming and video journalism production.  Additionally, C-SPAN sends representatives to visit communities across the country, year round, introducing visitors to our public affairs programming while providing a greater understanding of C-SPAN.

The Bus is equipped with touchscreen computers that demonstrate C-SPAN’s many websites, including the Video Library, C-SPAN Classroom, Congressional Chronicle, and Book TV. Visitors can also test their knowledge of public affairs through quizzes, learn about StudentCam.
