Hines/Cousins Selects Comcast to Provide 10-Gigabit Internet Service to its New Office Tower at Avalon

(Atlanta) Feb. 2, 2017 – The development partnership of Hines, an international real estate firm, and Cousins, a self-administered and managed REIT, announced today the selection of Comcast to provide 10-gigabit Internet service to its new nine-story, 220,000 square foot office tower in Avalon. Comcast will install the all-fiber network in February 2017, ahead of the building’s projected March 31 opening.

“We are thrilled to bring some of the nation’s fastest Internet speeds to our customers at Avalon,” said Mary Hill, Vice President at Hines in Alpharetta. “As we prepare to unveil this new facility, it was essential that we could offer the most advanced technology available in the marketplace.”

The new tower is part of Avalon, an 86-acre mixed use project featuring 570,000 square feet of retail, a Regal movie theater, 23 restaurants, offices, 101 single family residences and 517  luxury rental homes all situated in a resort-like setting just off Georgia 400 at Old Milton Parkway.

“Businesses are increasingly making technology a top priority when looking to relocate or expand,” said Shawn Geagan, Senior Director at Comcast. “We are proud to be part of this important milestone, and look forward to bringing the fastest speeds in Atlanta to more businesses in 2017.”

The 8000 Avalon office building, which has already attracted numerous companies, will be positioned just above 40,000-square-feet of specialty curated retail space. It is an important part of Avalon’s second phase, which expands the retail district by 80,000 square-feet and includes an additional 267 luxury apartments, a full service 325-room hotel and a 40,000 square-foot conference center.

Wakefield Beasley & Associates Architects Inc. is the architect of the office and residential buildings.
