Comcast Preparing for Hurricane #Florence

Comcast is actively monitoring and preparing for #Florence and its potential impact on our customers in South Carolina and Georgia. Current projections show #Florence will likely make landfall this week, possibly causing widespread power outages and affecting our customers’ Xfinity services.

We are taking steps to ensure we’re ready – adding staff and placing employees in key locations throughout impacted areas, preparing back-up generators and other supplies, and coordinating closely with power companies, local and state emergency workers.

Customers may easily download the following mobile apps to help stay connected:

  • Xfinity My Account – Get updates on outages, report service interruptions, and see when your service is expected to be restored.
  • Xfinity Connect – Xfinity Voice customers can send and receive texts from their home telephone number, and listen to voicemail.
  • Xfinity Stream – Xfinity TV customers can download shows and movies beforehand to watch offline in case they lose power.

In the event of a power outage, Xfinity Internet customers with Performance tier or above receive access to millions of Wi-Fi hotspots nationwide at no extra cost. Learn more and find an Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot near you.

Additionally, Comcast may send customers text alerts with information about an imminent storm, a service interruption, or helpful hints for restoration. Please visit My Account and make sure your mobile number is added to receive storm alerts.

Attention Comcast customers: If power is out, the local utility provider must restore it first before Comcast can bring its Xfinity services back online. It is possible that power could be restored to your home first, but damage to or loss of power to the Xfinity network serving your neighborhood may continue to affect your services.
