10-year agreement will introduce fiber-to-the-unit technology to residences, retail, hotels and offices
(Atlanta, Ga.) June 8, 2016: Comcast announced today that it has been named exclusive marketing partner to Halcyon, a $370-million mixed-use community of private residences, retail, hotels and offices being developed in south Forsyth County, Ga. The 135-acre development, near the intersection of Georgia 400’s Exit 12 and McFarland Parkway, will be the first ‘gigabit community’ in Forsyth County.
Comcast has been selected to deliver a suite of gig-powered video, voice and high-speed data services to the development’s businesses and residential properties. Comcast also plans to install dozens of outdoor Xfinity WiFi hotspots, providing nearly seamless online access for guests and residents who take advantage of Halcyon’s
50-acres of green space and trails. Xfinity Communities will provide advanced services to the development’s residential properties, and Comcast Business has been selected to power Halcyon’s retail, hotels, offices and outdoor spaces.
Halcyon will offer 360,000 square feet of retail and office space, and will include two boutique hotels, a town center, and a high-end, dine-in movie theater. The mixed-use community will also offer 87 detached houses, 155 townhouses and 448 apartments. Atlanta-based developer RocaPoint Partners is overseeing the project, the first phase of which is slated to open in fall 2017.
“Thanks to this innovative partnership with Comcast, Halcyon represents the future of a totally connected mixed-use development,” said Patrick Leonard, principal of RocaPoint Partners. “As a gigabit-powered community, Halcyon will be the ultimate one-stop-shop for residents, businesses and visitors.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Halcyon to Forsyth County, and are confident that patrons will enjoy all of its amenities in the years ahead,” said James McCoy, president of the Cumming-Forsyth Chamber of Commerce. “We are especially pleased that Comcast will bring some of the nation’s most advanced technology into Halcyon, and believe that this will only add to the overall experience.”
“Halcyon will be one of the most technologically advanced mixed-use communities in the nation,” said Doug Guthrie, regional SVP for Comcast. “This agreement sets a new standard for mixed-use communities. Residents, tenants and visitors to Halcyon will enjoy all the benefits of a virtually seamless online experience, all backed by a
10-gigabit fiber network capable of delivering truly cutting-edge services.”
Halcyon is also slated to include 10 restaurants, a fitness club and a market hall. The office and retail leasing is being handled by JLL.
