Comcast named exclusive technology provider, will deliver gigabit-speed Internet and Wi-Fi

ATLANTA (Oct. 12, 2017) – The Sandy Springs Innovation Center (SSIC), a long-planned effort from the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce to boost tech start-up businesses and attract new industries, announced today that it has officially opened its new facility. Comcast is the exclusive technology provider, bringing gigabit-speed Internet and other advanced technology services to the center.

The new SSIC is designed to bring innovators, business leaders and community visionaries together by fostering collaboration through connectivity, with the ultimate goal of driving economic growth and making a positive social impact.

Specifically, Comcast is providing SSIC with a dedicated multi-gigabit broadband connection that will support high speed Internet, Xfinity Wi-Fi, the Xfinity X1 entertainment platform, and cloud-based voice services. The new facility will offer educational seminars, information on city, county and state programs, and a remote location for local workers and start-up creators.

Building new spaces to encourage collaboration on college campuses, in innovation centers and at major venues, such as The Farm at SunTrust Park, are just a few examples of how Comcast helps drive innovation and support entrepreneurs.

Located at 1000 Abernathy Road at Northpoint Town Center, the building’s modern work space features 3,700 square-feet of spacious common areas, private offices, dedicated desks and a training classroom.

“The new Center will be a strong component of our marketing program to attract tech companies to Sandy Springs,” said Tom Mahaffey, SSPC president. “Business people who research our city as a potential location will now have a technology hub where they can meet and learn about everything the city, county and state have to offer. We can also provide space for technology seminars and programs. We appreciate Comcast’s support, and would like to thank all of our partners for making this concept a reality.”

“It’s exciting to see the Sandy Springs Innovation Center open its doors to Atlanta’s visionaries and business leaders,” said Doug Guthrie, Regional Senior Vice President at Comcast. “I am confident that our burgeoning technology start-up community will find this an ideal place to innovate, imagine and create the products and services of tomorrow.”

SSIC was developed through a public-private partnership involving the Chamber, the Sandy Springs Development Authority and Cousins Property. Just a 15-minute drive from downtown Atlanta and within walking distance to MARTA, Sandy Springs has established itself as an ideal destination for businesses of all sizes.
