Comcast Foundation Awards More Than $20,000 to Middle Tenn. Non-Profits

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – OCTOBER 13, 2016 – The Comcast Foundation announced today that it has awarded more than $20,000 in grants to 13 nonprofit organizations in Middle Tennessee in 2016.

The organizations receiving the grants participated in the 15th annual ‘Comcast Cares Day’ this past April. Comcast Cares Day, which takes place each April during National Volunteer Month, is Comcast and NBCUniversal’s signature day of service and the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort.

In Middle Tennessee, hundreds of volunteers assisted with various community projects including park and trail clean-ups, playground improvements, food and blood drives, and clean-up days at local non-profits.

“Comcast is thrilled to award these grants to our deserving partner organizations that strengthen our communities each and every day,” said Valerie Gillespie, Comcast Area Vice President. “During Comcast Cares Day and year-round, the tireless work of these nonprofit organizations is so important to the citizens of Tennessee.”

Organizations that are making a meaningful difference in the community and were supported by the Comcast Foundation this year in Middle Tennessee include:

  • United Way Of Williamson County
  • United Way Of Sumner County
  • United Way Of Rutherford County
  • Operation Stand Down Tennessee
  • Salama Urban Ministries Inc.
  • Friends Of Riverside Drive
  • American National Red Cross
  • Boys And Girls Club Of Middle Tennessee
  • Hands On Nashville
  • Oasis Center
